It is easy to forget we humans are animals. Or that the evolution that has shaped us as hunter-gatherers and farmers for the last 10,000 years is more deeply embedded in our psyche than the last 500 years of technology. Part of us is hard-wired to carry out an evolutionary mission that determines much of what we do. What is a reasonable liberal religious response?
