"What won't go away."
Science fiction writer Philip K. Dick defined reality as "that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." On this day of time and memory, we will pause a moment to consider what does and does not go away.
The sermon is delivered by Eliot Chapel's intern minister, the David Breeden.

"Incarnation"
In Buddhism, its the bodhisattvas; in Judaism, the Image of God; and in Christianity, Jesus Christ. World religions have these different ways of talking about the place where the divine and human meet. What can these images mean for us?

When certain wildly unpredictable events happen, like 9/11 or the Google phenomenon, we spin a story to make sense of it all. But if we want to tell the truth to ourselves, we have to tell a different story. Lead by the Rev. Dr. Daniel O'Connell.

"Ultimate Meaning and Conventional Representation"
Since Theodore Parker delivered his pivotal "A Discourse on the Transient and Permanent in Christianity" in 1841, Unitarians have been searching for the universal truth within the culturally determined religious doctrine and practice. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving we will examine how this search illuminates both the Unitarian Universalist principles and purposes and our lives here together at Eliot.
Eliot Chapel's Community Minister, Rev. Dick Haynes, delivers the sermon.

"Eleven Eleven"
Long before 9/11 there was 11/11. The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918, the negotiated end of the "Great War".
People who experienced the odd silence that fell over the battlefield realized that all the chaos and mayhem of war had been human made, human controlled. It still is.
Eliot Chapel's intern minister, David Breeden, delivers the sermon.

"Better Together: We the Covenant Keepers"
Unitarian Universalists: we don't have a common theology; we are not of the same ethnic group; we have few if any common rituals; in truth, we are not even a denomination. So what is the glue that holds us together as congregations and as an association of congregations? And why does that matter now? This is Association Sunday when we walk the talk.
In a two-time honored tradition, the Rev. Dr. Daniel O'Connell trades pulpits today with the Rev. Suzanne Meyer, of the First Unitarian Church of St. Louis.
The Rev. Meyer delivers the sermon.

(Who is That Swinging from Tree to Tree?)
My religious journey has taken me from fundamentalism
to atheism and then some. Yet when I get too rational,
I ask myself a simple question:
Why won't I spend the night in a graveyard?
Eliot Chapel's Intern Minister, Dr. David Breeden,
